Summary: Holly is sad and Yoongi doesn't know why
“I’m not taking him to a dog psychologist! That’s just ridiculous.”
“But you know something’s wrong,” protested Hoseok on the other end of the line.
“Yes, that’s why I took him to the vet and she said there’s nothing wrong with him. He’s just…sad. I don’t know why. I’ll probably never know why. Gotta go. Someone’s knocking on the front door.”
Yoongi read through the letter three times before he turned his attention to the small box which had accompanied it. He had even called the firm of lawyers at the top of the letterhead and confirmed that it wasn’t a hoax.
It was legit.
Yoongi’s neighbor had died. It had been a neighbor that Yoongi didn’t know very well, an elderly lady who lived alone with her cat.
Apparently, this neighbor had left something for Yoongi in her will.
Yoongi opened the box. Inside it was a photo album. He sat down and Holly hopped up in his lap and began to whine.
“Holly!”
The photos in the album were of Holly and a grey cat, Smokey, apparently, and the gist of it was that Holly and his cat were best friends! There was even one of them under a Christmas tree—not Yoongi’s Christmas tree!
“So you’ve been sneaking out to play with your friend?” said Yoongi.
Holly wagged his tail.
Woof!
“And now they’re gone?”
Woof, woof!
“And you’re sad?”
Woof, woof, woof!

“Hob-ah, I need you to adopt a cat.”
“What?!”
“Listen: the owner of Holly’s secret best friend died, and secret best friend ended up in a shelter. I want to rescue Smokey, but I don’t want a cat myself. It’s my Christmas wish, Hob-ah.”
“Since when do you have Christmas wishes, Min Yoongi?”
“Are you not going to—”
“I didn’t say that.”
