The Christmas Spa smelled like eucalyptus and pine, sharp and clean. Ginny loved it immediately. Luna loved it five minutes later, once she decided the marble floors were listening. Snow pressed against the tall windows, dramatic and insistent, like it wanted in.
They traded robes for towels and slipped into the hot pool. Heat hit hard, stole Ginny’s breath, made her grin. Luna tilted her head back, eyes closed, hair dark against the water, like she was testing a theory about joy. Somewhere, bells chimed. Somewhere else, someone laughed and dropped a tray of glasses.
They escaped to the quiet room, feet bare, tea too hot to drink. Christmas felt simple, tender, and exactly enough.
