Fandom: Inuyasha
Characters: Inuyasha, Miroku, Shippō, Kagome, Kirara
Rating: G

"What in the world happened while I was gone," Kagome asked, dumbfounded.

The hut she'd stepped into was filled almost to bursting with a full-sized Kirara. She was curled up as tightly as possible, huddling around a figure that barely peeped out of her fur. That form was Miroku. He shivered and shook, making Kagome think of an unstrung marionette that was on its way toward falling apart.

Unenlightened, she turned to Inuyasha, who leaned against the wall just inside the doorway. "What exactly did I miss?"

Inuyasha snorted, extending one arm. He clutched Shippō's tail in one fist, the small kitsune dangling there helplessly.

"You wanna tell her," Inuyasha asked Shippō, "or should I?"

Shippō squirmed in place, indignantly embarrassed. "Why should I have anything to tell Kagome," he protested.

"Because it was all your fault!"

"It was not! Okay, maybe it kinda was my fault, but I was just curious! How was I supposed to know this would happen? That doesn't really make it my fault! Does it?"

"Ah, can it, shrimp," Inuyasha muttered, releasing him. He glanced toward the ever more confused Kagome. "While you were gone, a pretty heavy snowstorm hit. After it let up, there were a few large snowdrifts left behind."

"Really?" Kagome blinked, glancing back outside. "There doesn't seem to be very much snow out there. It can't have all melted that quickly."

"It d-d-didn't," Miroku piped up from his makeshift nest. He tried to continue, but his teeth chattered too much for the activity.

"Save your strength," Inuyasha scolded. "Idiot. Anyway, Shippō went out and started to play in the snow, when he suddenly asked Miroku what would happen if he sucked all of the snow up with his wind tunnel. The damn fool took him up on it, and now it's a wonder that he doesn't have hypothermia!"

"I'll bet that was interesting to see," Kagome remarked, setting her pack down and pulling out a thermos. "Good thing I went home to bring everyone some more cocoa." She poured out a serving, offering it to Miroku. "Here you go; go easy on it. I can't believe you did something that stupid, though!"

Miroku held the cup close to himself for a moment, basking in the cocoa's warmth. Then, he took a sip. "Thank you, Kagome."

"What for," Inuyasha sarcastically wondered. "The cocoa, or the criticism?"

"Both, I suppose." His icy trembling a bit more under control, Miroku took another sip, swallowing gratefully. "And I can assure you that that was a mistake that I have no intention of making a second time."
