"Pain...so much pain," Chandler groaned as he staggered, zombielike, into the kitchen. Gingerly, he pulled a chair out at the table, wincing at the faintest hint of chair legs meeting floor. "Welcome to Hangover City. Population: Me."
"Wow," Monica snickered as she placed a bottle of water and a steaming cup of black coffee within easy reach. "You sure seem bright and chipper after last night's get-together."
He squinted at her through bleary and bloodshot eyes. "I feel like there are a bunch of little gnomes and elves inside my skull, hammering at my brain."
She plunked a bottle in front of him. "I don't suppose this has anything to do with it?"
Blinking, Chandler tried to come into focus. When his eyes finally decided to cooperate, both with him and with each other, he discovered an empty wine bottle. It had been decked out to resemble the little tormentors lurking beneath his scalp, with a conical hat of felt, and a carded wool beard.
"You," he weakly snarled, taking the bottle around the neck with both hands, as though to strangle it. "You're the demon who haunts me!"
