The packages beneath the tree
Are beautiful; they call to me
All paper-clad and decked in bows
What shall be in them--books or clothes

My excitement knows no bounds
Like being on merry-go-rounds
Awhirl with joy and mystery
What treasures I am sure to see

Within each box that tempts me so
I can't believe that I'll soon know
It felt so far, in days long past
But now it seems it comes so fast

How quickly every year does fly
A child no more; a woman, I
Yet I will let my heart run wild
As though I were once more a child

Each memory I'll treasure so
From heart and mind they shall not go
