Enthusiasm for the holiday trivia game that Monica had brought to the table was varied. Ross was smoking the competition, and even Rachel and Joey were doing fairly decently. Phoebe's answers were so entertainingly wrong as to be unanimously considered unworthy of the penalty: A large, heavily-embellished, lighted- and jingle-belled Santa Hat that Monica had termed the Jolly Hat. It even had a Christmas-carol-blaring speaker in the pompom.
There was one participant, however, whose interest had faded a long, long time ago, due to answers that were wrong, lame, or somewhat less entertainingly half-assed than Phoebe's. He was, in fact, starting to wish that he could get buried in a snowdrift, at the rate that he was going.
"Chandler, you've gotten five questions wrong in a row," came the unwelcome announcement. "The Jolly Hat is yours for the next few rounds."
"Awww, that's not fair." Joey looked dismayed as the hat was plunked on Chandler's head. "I want to wear the Jolly Hat," he pouted.
Cringing from beneath the hat's faux ermine trim, Chandler fixed him with a glare. "Joey, I don't think I can overstate the fact that this is a penalty," he groaned.
