"Why is there a puppy under the Christmas tree," Davy wondered, eyeing it worriedly.
"It's okay, Davy." Peter gave him a reassuring smile. "There's nothing to worry about--"
"Oh, yes, there is. Peter, you know we're not allowed to have pets here. If the landlord sees it, then that'll undo all the work we've done to try to get him to like us."
"I promise you, that isn't going to be a problem. Do you remember that holiday charity thing we were hired to play for? They're having a toy drive, and that puppy's my contribution. It's a stuffed animal."
