Davy rubbed his nose, pulling the collar of his shirt over it. The warm-astringent-sweet smell had been going on for days.
"I hope you'll be done with those soon," he stated to Peter. "Those things smelled nice when you started, but I'm not sure any of us can stand it much longer."
Picking up another orange, Peter began pushing cloves into it in a starry design. "I'm sorry that it's so troubling. I just thought that these pomanders would make nice, inexpensive Christmas presents to our friends."
"That's a nice thought. But please don't give any to us!"
