Title: 'Duds'
Fandom: Original Fiction
Characters: Original
Rating: G
"Come one, come all! It's time to celebrate!"
"It's good that you're so excited, but Christmas is still a couple of weeks away."
"You think that matters to me? I came to party, and I came prepared!"
"Where the heck did you get those sparklers?"
"I saved some back from the July Fourth celebration we had."
"But that was several months ago. Will those things still be any good?"
"I don't see why not. I stashed 'em in my refrigerator."
"That might keep them fresh, but I don't know..."
"What're you doing with your phone?"
"A little research. Okay. It says here that they can last for decades, if left in a cool--"
"See?"
"--dry place."
"Oh. Darn it. I thought having sparklers was a great idea. Now I've just got duds that probably won't do much more beyond a quick fizzle."
"Well, don't worry. If you're lucky, maybe Santa will leave some in your stocking this year."
