Max shook his head firmly. "I'll pass, Billie," he insisted. He settled more comfortably onto the bench. "You go ahead; I'll wait until you're done."
Belinda glided up to the edge of the ice, fading sunlight gleaming on the blades of her skates. "I think you're unwilling to admit that you can't do it," she teased.
"Oh, no. That's not it, at all," he responded. His eyes flitted toward the second pair of ice skates, as they rested on the bench beside him. "It's more that I'm afraid to fall and shatter my tailbone!"
