"What's this round, tube-lookin' kinda thing," Joey wondered, staring at a large object that took up a good portion of Monica's table.
"That's a Yule log," she told him, grinning, as she scrubbed a mixing bowl. "I've made a thin chocolate sheet cake, and spread it with rum-infused buttercream icing. And it's coated in dark chocolate. Back in the day," she added, "Yule logs would be burned in the fireplace--"
"Nooooooo," Joey wailed, pulling the platter the cake rested on closer to himself.
Monica heaved a sigh, rolling her eyes. "But you don't do that with the edible version. This kind is meant to be eaten."
He sagged in relief. "Why didn't you say so?!"
"If you'd given me a chance, and not let your taste buds panic like that, I would have!" She glanced over at him, and chuckled; he was already shoveling large forkfuls into his mouth. "And this one was going to be for our holiday party. But I guess I can bake another one."
