Title: 'Serenity'
Fandom: Original Fiction
Characters: Original
Rating: G
A bright full moon hung high in the sky, casting a blue-silver sheen over everything. The snow sparkled as it crunched beneath my feet, my every breath condensing steamlike in the chill air. All around, fir trees towered over me, their branches heavy with recent snowfall. They looked like Nature had decided to have a go at decorating for Christmas.
Here, surrounded by this wintry serenity, I could almost believe that I was near the North Pole, if not for the fact that trees aren't able to grow that far north. Still, it was a pleasant thing to pretend, turning my already good mood up by several notches.
I paused in a broad clearing, gazing up at the stars that dimly competed against the moon's glow. As I stood there, enjoying the peace, shapes flitted across the moon, casting a series of shadows.
I'd never be willing to swear one hundred percent on it...but I could almost convince myself that I'd just seen a sleigh and eight reindeer, or briefly heard the jangling of bells.
