Title: Snowman
Fandom: Supernatural
Pairing/Characters: Jack Kline
Rating/Warnings: G

Prompt: snowman
Summary: If snowmen could run, where would they go?

He’d seen children do this, assembling piles of snow into people. He wasn’t sure why they always created three segments like ants. They often added sticks for arms, but never legs. He supposed that was so they couldn’t run away. That seemed cruel.

His snowman had legs, even if they were a bit stubby. If it were animate, it could come and go as it pleased. Where would it go? Did snowmen want to go anywhere?

The sun peeked through the clouds, and then he knew. The shadows. That’s where they’d go.

He closed his eyes and stretched his wings.

Title: Stargazing
Fandom: Supernatural
Pairing/Characters: Dean/Cas, Eileen/Sam
Rating/Warnings: G

Prompt: Yule feast
Summary: Castiel and Sam observe their respective suns as they prepare to share a holiday meal.

Dean had declined any and all help in the kitchen, so Castiel had found himself playing “third wheel” to Eileen and Sam. He finally understood why that expression wasn’t considered positive, though he maintained that a third wheel would naturally increase stability. Human expressions still mystified him, even when he understood them.

Eileen enjoyed having someone who signed fluently, it was clear. Her fingers danced with excitement as she told both him and Sam about her most recent case. Sam just watched her sign and listened to her speak, wonder written across his features.

Castiel wondered if he looked like that when he observed Dean, as though he were watching the unfolding of the universe at its birth. Probably.

“Soup’s on!” Dean yelled.

Castiel translated to Eileen, and she jumped up and pulled Sam along behind her. Castiel followed them, eager to see what had kept Dean so focused these last several hours.

When they entered the war room, table converted for Christmas dinner with a festive tablecloth, Castiel saw why this had been so all-consuming. Dean had apparently chosen to make every possible type of food for this holiday. There was ham with pineapple rings, turkey glistening brown, potatoes, and even what appeared to be kale, presumably to placate Sam. Then there was a stack of burgers, a homemade pizza, and a large bowl of French fries.

“Dig in,” Dean said. “Something for everyone.”

“This is amazing,” Eileen said.

“Yeah, Dean. You really outdid yourself,” Sam agreed, pulling out Eileen’s chair before taking his own.

Castiel took a seat as well.

“You gonna eat anything?” Dean asked as he sat next to him.

“I would not be able to appreciate the fruits of your labors as they deserve,” Castiel said.

“Maybe just a burger?”

“Maybe a burger.” Castiel smiled. The ritual of sharing a meal was important, after all, and clearly having them all together like this meant a lot to Dean.

“You know there’s gonna be dessert, too, right?” Dean asked.

“I would expect no less.”

“What kind of pie did you make?” Eileen asked.

As Dean began to list the varieties he had baked, Castiel caught Sam watching him. The look on his face likely resembled Castiel’s as he’d watched Sam earlier. He gave Sam a little smile and returned his attention to Dean, even as Sam returned his to Eileen, both of them resuming their stargazing.

Title: Perfect Start
Fandom: Supernatural
Pairing/Characters: Charlie/Jo
Rating/Warnings: G
Disclaimer: here
Prompt: countdown to midnight
Summary: Jo has an idea for the perfect way to start out the New Year.

“C’mon, you’re gonna miss it!” Charlie bounced on her toes in time with the countdown on the screen.

“Three, two, one,” Jo said as she swept into the room and planted a kiss on Charlie’s lips that went from zero to sixty instantly.

In fact, Charlie was half expecting they were going to get right down to it in the living room at this rate, so she was disappointed when Jo pulled away. She put on her best pout and asked, “What were you doing, anyway?”

Jo bit her lip nervously and reached into her pocket, then pulled her hand back out. “I, um, you know what, this is stupid.”

“Hey!” Charlie reached out and stroked Jo’s cheek. “Whatever it is, it’s not stupid.”

Jo smiled and squared her shoulders. And then she was going down on one knee, hand reaching back into her pocket.

“What are you doing?”

“Charlie, will you marry me?” Jo flipped open a small box to show a small diamond surrounded with either garnets or rubies, set in brightly shining yellow gold.

After much squeeing (and clarifying that of course that meant yes) and kissing, Jo slid the ring onto Charlie’s finger.

“You got me a Gryffindor engagement ring.” It was the most beautiful ring Charlie thought she’d ever seen.

“Well, duh. I may think you’re a Hufflepuff, but I know better than to argue with my queen.” Jo grinned. She looked like she might just smile like that forever, which was more than fine with Charlie.

“As well you should …n’t. I’m not sure how to respond to that sentence,” Charlie admitted.

“You said yes when it mattered. Eventually.”

“Happy New Year, future Mrs. Harvelle-Bradbury.”

“Right back atcha, future Mrs. Bradbury-Harvelle. Now, how ‘bout we move this to the bedroom?”

“I thought you’d never ask.”

And last but not least, this one kept wanted to be a repeat of the Jack Frost one, but I finally convinced it otherwise.

Title: New Morning, New Year
Fandom: Supernatural
Pairing/Characters: Donna/Jody
Rating/Warnings:
Disclaimer: here
Prompt: ice flowers on glass
Summary: A moment alone before getting back to work.

Donna pulled the curtain aside and sighed.

The window was glazed over with frost, forming twisting vines and blossoming flowers as the sunlight glinted through it. It meant the car would need scraping before the trip back to Minnesota, but it was pretty to look at for now.

Jody sidled up behind her and slid her arms around Donna’s waist. She pressed a kiss to the back of Donna’s head, and Donna turned to capture those lips with her own, morning breath be darned.

“Happy New Year, Donna,” Jody whispered against her lips once they’d parted.

“Happy New Year, Jodes.”
