The Doctor glowered at River over a mug of cocoa. "I swear, I don't know where you get your ideas."
"You have to admit, though, it was rather clever of me," she purred in response, taking a sip of the rich, warm fluid.
"I don't have to admit anything." He picked up one of the tasty orbs that sat between them on the platter. "These are chocolate bombs, River. The 'bomb' part is strictly harmless. When not in your troublingly capable hands, that is to say."
River beamed, remembering her improvised triumph. "Can I help it if the invading Zokibai troops were all allergic to chocolate?"
"Hardly," the Doctor reluctantly admitted. "But that's not the point! The fact that you took one of these, and attached a fuse to it, then proceeded to lob your makeshift grenade into their midst--"
"Is, again, remarkably clever of me to have thought to do," River concluded. "The Zokibai left, and no one was harmed in the process of either their attempted, and ultimately evanescent, invasion, nor their retreat. You're simply cross because you didn't think of it, first."
Unable to think of something devastatingly witty to respond with, the Doctor settled for taking a deep drink of his cocoa, almost scalding his tongue.
"How dare you be right," he finally mumbled.

He likes his people looking up to him because he’s so clever. He’s not used to having to concede they can have good ideas, too. ;)
