Title: Baby, baby
Fandom: BTS
Rating: Gen
Characters: Everyone but Jin (sniff!) sope goggles optional
For: Advent Drabbles day 18: Baby's first Christmas
Summary: Jungkook accidentally steals an infant around Christmas.
“It isn’t that I don’t like it,” began Yoongi, turning over the knitted garment in his hands, “I know you worked hard on it, and I really appreciate the time and effort you spent making it, it, well, it just doesn’t make much sense. I mean, it isn’t ‘Baby’s First Christmas.’ Holly has had many Christmases already.”
“It’s cute,” snapped Hoseok. “And Holly will love it.”
Yoongi rubbed his face and sighed, but any further argument was interrupted by the arrival of Jungkook.
“Headed home?” asked Hoseok, nodding to the black duffel bag in Jungkook’s hand.
“Yeah,” said Jungkook. “I wrapped up my part so everybody can go home now.”
“Thank goodness for that!” cried Jimin as he joined the group.
“Seconded!” piped up Namjoon. “Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!”
Jungkook hoisted his duffel bag on his shoulder.
Everyone froze at the noise.
“Uh, Kookie? What’s in your bag?” asked Hoseok nervously.
“Did I hear a baby?” asked Taehyung, walking towards them, shrugging into his coat. “I love babies! Where? Oh, is it the one the new stylist’s sister brought? He was so cute.”
“And the big brother, too,” added Jimin. “But I bet he’s a handful, too.”
“I didn’t make the noise,” said Jungkook.
“Uh, no, it sounded like it was coming from your bag, Jungkook,” said Yoongi cautiously.
“You don’t have a baby in your bag, do you?” joked Namjoon.
Jungkook snorted. “Yeah, like I’ve got a baby in here!” He tapped the bag and there was another noise from inside.
Everyone froze again.
“It can’t be!”
“It’s impossible!”
“What?”
“Kookie! Open that bag! Now!” ordered Namjoon.
Jungkook set the bag on the ground and unzipped it.
Everyone gasped.
“Oh my god!” cried Hoseok.
“Shit, shit, shit,” said Namjoon.
“Hey, baby,” cooed Taehyung, reaching for the baby and scooping it up and bringing it to his chest. “Don’t be upset. Kookie wasn’t going to take you.”
“Koo, you stole a fucking baby,” shouted Yoongi.
“I didn’t steal it!” cried Jungkook. “This isn’t even my fucking bag! Look! There’s baby stuff in it.”
“And a baby!” hissed Namjoon. “Keep your voices down before someone realizes what’s happened.”
“And we go to jail instead of the military,” snapped Yoongi.
“I just picked up the bag,” said Jungkook. “It looks just like mine. But, yeah, I guess it was lighter than mine. I didn’t really think anything about it.”
"He's tiny," said Hoseok.
“I can’t believe,” said Yoongi, running a hand through his hair, "you actually kidnapped an infant.”
“Okay, I know we have bigger problems, but Kookie, you need to get a new bag if yours looks like an infant diaper bag,” said Hoseok.
“Hello, baby!” sang Taehyung swaying back and forth and gently bouncing up and down with the baby in his arms.
“Hello, baby,” echoed Jimin, smiling at the baby.
“Where’s your mama, sweetie?”
“Where’s your mama, cutie?”
“That kid’s mom is probably calling the cops right now,” growled Yoongi. “And when they find us how are we going to explain that our maknae really is that stupid?”
“We gotta think of something quick,” said Hoseok.
They all looked at Namjoon.
“Me?!” Namjoon broke out in a visible sweat. He frowned. “Okay, okay, uh…”
Just then there was a commotion and a young wail.
“Where did you put him?” asked a frantic voice.
“I put him in the bag!” cried a tiny voice. “I put brother in the bag!”
“Oh, shit,” said Jungkook. “Well, it’s been nice knowing you. I’ll take the rap.”
“Quick, give me the baby, Tae,” said Yoongi. “Cover me,” he said to the others.
“Go to Grampa, baby,” sang Tae. “He’s not as grumpy as he looks.”
“Actually, he is, but it’s okay,” added Jimin softly.
“Um, excuse me,” said Namjoon, stepping forward and calling out to the woman and child flanked by security guards. “We have your child. We thought he wasn’t safe in the bag and so we took care of him. We are so very sorry to worry you.”
“Oh, thank god!” exclaimed the woman who promptly burst into tears. “My baby!”
“We wanted to give him this, too,” said Yoongi handing the infant to the mother.
“Baby’s First Christmas!” she sobbed. “It’s beautiful! It’s perfect. You are really wonderful. My sister is so lucky to be working for you.”
One of the security guards was holding a black duffel bag.
“Oh, you found my bag,” said Jungkook. “Thanks. I was wondering where I left it.” He took it.
“Open it and make sure it’s yours,” cautioned Yoongi.
Jungkook unzipped the bag. “Hey, who drank all my banana milk?”
The young boy giggled.
“I’ll buy you some more,” said Namjoon, clapping a hand on Jungkook’s bag. “Now that the crisis is averted, let’s all go home.”
