Title: 'Self-Control'
Fandom: Friends
Characters: Monica Geller, Joey Tribbiani
Rating: G
Across the hall, there was a loud bang, followed by an equally volatile swing as Monica's door burst open. Through it came a wide-eyed Joey.
"What smells so good," he demanded, sniffing the air in the apartment and looking around.
"Wow." Monica just stared at him, her heart going a mile a minute. "I'm amazed you didn't break the door down. Thanks for leaving it on the hinges."
He grinned a little, sheepishly--and much less excitedly--closing the door. "Sorry, Mon. I was takin' a nap, and I suddenly smelled all these spices. What're you makin'?"
Holding out a dough-covered mixing spoon, Monica explained: "I've decided that I'm giving everybody loaves of gingerbread for Christmas this year."
Taking a nibble of what was on the spoon, Joey moaned ecstatically. "That's so good! Can I have mine early?!"
She gave him a pointed look. "Can you watch everybody get theirs at Christmas without whining about not having any of your own? And without trying to steal bites of everyone else's?"
"Of course I can, Monica," Joey scoffed, tossing the spoon onto the counter. "I have self-control."
Monica winced a bit, taking the spoon, wiping the counter down, and putting the spoon in the sink. "Do you?"
He shook his head. "Nah."
"Okay, then. You'll just have to wait."
