Mirrorball
She knew now that there were other facets to her that she could not see, other aspects that had been hidden from her by Yodon. She was a spinning top, a toy set in motion, centrifugal force carrying her onwards until eventually she slowed, and eventually she stopped. The taste of the ice upon her tongue was cold, yet the feeling that burnt in her heart was a furnace that powered her, that drove her on, and pushed her forward, one gloved hand holding the stick of the lolly, the other clasping her crop.
When the princess-in-exile of Crystalia had lost control of her faculties, dragging her comrades out on a merry chase, Yodonna had acquired a new taste for the flavoured, frozen ice consumed now even in the grip of winter, and she had thought of all the aspects of herself that remained hidden like the depths of an iceberg beneath the glacial ocean.
The same people who fashioned such spinning tops here on Earth as she might compare herself to, were the same people who told of another goddess out in the desert who had likewise rejected the role appointed her.
Around her, the wind rose, and she tossed the remnants of the ice lolly down into the green grass, readying her crop.
“Teach me then,” she called out. “Show me how to handle this weapon, show me something I don’t know about myself.”
From across the way, the wind moving in from the sea, the stone memorials to his friends at his back, Amamiya Yusuke readied his sword.
