Title: 'Reindeer Racing'
Fandom: Doctor Who
Characters: Eleventh Doctor, Amy Pond
Rating: G
"Reindeer racing?!" Amy stared at the Doctor, taken aback by his cheerful announcement. "You're joking, aren't you? That sounds kind of...cruel."
He grinned, clapping her on the shoulder as he led her out of the TARDIS and onto an enormous, snow-covered field. "Relax, Pond; it isn't anything like racing horses or greyhounds. This is far more pleasant."
To emphasize his point, the Doctor motioned to a pair of one-seater sleighs, each hitched to a single sturdy-looking reindeer. They each clambered into a sleigh, making themselves comfortable.
Still rather befuddled, Amy looked around, staring at a bank of controls. "Where are the reins," she asked.
"You don't need any; the system is entirely automated. Just tell your reindeer to go, and she'll go--incidentally," he added, "were you aware that only female reindeer retain their antlers in the wintertime?"
"They...what..." But all that was left to reply to Amy was a sudden blur of snow kicked up in front of her as the Doctor took off, his tactic of distraction having worked like a charm. "You're cheating, Raggedy Man," she shouted after him.
