Dec 30: Good Omens: Gen
Thank you to the mods for running a great challenge. It is always one of my favorites and a fun way to end the year. Wish everyone in the
adventdrabbles comm a healthy and inspired 2025.
Title: last good deed of the year
Fandom: Good Omens
Character: Aziraphale
Rating: Gen
Length: 200
Prompt: Holiday books (Dec 30). Also for
sweetandshort 10 out of 20: shopping
Summary: Aziraphale's shop has two customers. Groan!
“…but mum, Books & More is so much nicer,” whispered the younger of the two interlopers. “That display of holiday books was pretty, I don’t even think this bookshop knows it’s Christmas…”
Maybe because it’s Christmas every day for some of us, thought Aziraphale peevishly, holiday displays or not.
“…we can always go back there, Susan, but something about this place feels…angelic…”
Aziraphale’s eyebrows rose.
“Angelic?” echoed the younger interloper.
“Not the cute Precious Moment figurines Grandma collects but the real angels.”
“If you say so.”
“I bet we can find a gem or two in here…”
Aziraphale considered his cocoa, then snapped his fingers.
“Oh, Susan, look at that one, the one sticking out. Could it be…?”
“Wow, isn’t that?”
“Yes, the very book I was telling you about the other day. I can scarcely credit it.”
“Huh. Well, I guess I’ve got your Christmas gift.”
“Oh, no, Susan, it probably costs a fortune. It’s not an antique, of course, but it’s probably a collectible.”
Aziraphale sighed as the door closed.
He’d done his good deed for the year.
He snapped his fingers and the sign in the window flipped to read:
‘Closed for Christmas. See you Next Year.’
