The presents are wrapped, and the halls are all decked. The scents of snow and baking cookies waft through the air. There's a crisp wind blowing, sweeping away the last of the autumn leaves to give winter a fresh start.
Soon, carols will be heard, cheery and bright and warm against the steadily dropping temperatures. There'll be hot chocolate and friendly faces, figgy pudding and the love of family. There will be old-fashioned traditions handed down lovingly from one generation to the next; and there will be newer traditions waiting to join those trends. Happiness is already all around.
